Content:
Inductivism, deductivism, nature of scientific method, the research cycle, problem identification and formulation, paradigm shifts, data vs information, alternative approaches to research, common approaches in business research. Focus of analysis – breadth vs depth, cross sectional and longitudinal designs, sample design, sample size determination, validity and generalisability of research design. Identification of current local and global research problems.

- Critically analyse the complexity of a business research problem.
- Exhibit originality in a critique of academic literature.
- Initiate, develop and specify a current business research problem.
- Design an investigative method, apply it and critically evaluate it.
